The Youth Leadership Institution is a non-profit that helps foster youth leading and creating equitable communities. We are a program who helps youth, is essentially run by youth (with adult staff and board members helping and supporting), and is designed to help youth utilize their voice and become change makers. A lot of the youth we reach come from underprivileged backgrounds and communities. Our organization has helped many youth tackle many issues in their communities. We’ve had some of our youth hold talent shows to combat and educate domestic violence, start a campaign (as well as an alcohol-free party) to help decrease underage drinking, lead a local science movement designed to empower girls to take on the STEM field through workshops, hold youth conferences to teach other youth how they can become leaders, and so much more.
Our Institution does a lot of good work. However, since we are a non-profit, we rely on government funds and private donations to support our work. Would you like to hold a collection at your school? Maybe sell some YLI pins at your school events for donations, or even get some of your social justice/service clubs to hold the fundraisers for YLI?
