Love working with kids? Interested in a future career in teaching? Looking to fulfill your volunteer commitment? We can help! We’d love to have you join us for an ongoing commitment or a one-off volunteer gig. Volunteer tasks include classroom organization, preparing instructional materials, one on one/small group tutoring, mentor activities, read aloud, etc. Hours are flexible!

Hillcrest Elementary is an SFUSD public elementary (K-5) school. We identify as a community school, which is a strategy for organizing community resources around student success. We subscribe to a holistic view of our students and employ an integrated focus on academics, socio-emotional supports, and family engagement activities that lead not only to improved student learning, but also to stronger families and healthier communities. Our students come from multicultural backgrounds, rich languages, and unique personal stories. Some have lived in the US since birth and some only just arrived in the last couple of years. Along with this wonderful diversity in language, ethnicity and culture, comes a wide variance in academic proficiency, as well as mastery of the socio-emotional skills critical for school success.
