Aim High intends to shepherd a cohort of our students through the high school admission process with the goal of facilitating powerful placements in high quality independent, parochial, and public schools. We have designed a series of Saturday workshops to help students gain admission to the school(s) of their choice and help them and their families overcome the following obstacles:
- Unfamiliarity with the application process and its rigor
- Lack of awareness of and financial access to applicant resources (i.e. SSAT preparation, writing tutors, placement counselors)
- Cultural realities that make private school education appear inaccessible to low-income students and students of color.
Time Commitment
The day is divided into two workshop periods: 9:00am-12:00pm and 12:00pm-2:00pm. Mentors are only needed from 9am -12pm as the students will be receiving SSAT prep from 12pm – 2pm.
The Aim High workshops will begin on Saturday, October 6th. Our hope is that mentors will join us on that day and will participate every Saturday through the middle of December 1st (with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend).
