The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) High School Internships are open and accepting applications from students. The purpose of the program is to:
- introduce high school students to career opportunities in the field of transportation;
- help students understand the role of the transportation agencies in the community, county and region;
- provide skill-building opportunities during all phases of the program; and
- provide our transportation partners, such as planners at transit agencies or traffic engineers at city and county public works departments, with some assistance on entry-level tasks.
Approximately 40 internships will be available this summer throughout the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. The work site locations and job descriptions and applications are now posted on the MTC website at: http://www.mtc.ca.gov/jobs/high_school/. The deadline to apply has been extended to Sunday, March 22, 2015.
The hourly rate is $12.25 per hour and students may work full-time or part-time, for up to 250 hours, between June 18 and August 28, 2015.
