We at ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco would like to extend the invitation to you to join us on Sunday May 19th for our Youth Batizado, Graduation Ceremony and Youth Performance at the Dance Mission Theater, from 1pm-3:30pm.
The Batizado is a traditional graduation ceremony in the art of capoeira. In the ceremony, new students receive a capoeira nickname and all youth students will receive a new cord indicating their level. This ceremony is an opportunity to bring together students from all of ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco’s youth programming including from our partner schools. The Batizado is also a great opportunity to witness the spirit and beauty of capoeira. There will be an opening performance by prominent members of the ACSF Performance Troupe and visiting guest artists, as well as a performance presentation from the ACSF youth participants. This year, ACSF welcomes special guest from Brazil, Professor Goma, founder of ABADÁ-Capoeira Switzerland, Professora Yara (DC), Instrutor Prego (NYC), Instrutora Sereia (Arizona) and Instrutora Estrela Vesper (SF).
If you are interested in attending this unique and inspiring youth cultural event, please RSVP to Erica Hemenway by May 16th, so that I can put your name on the guest list (General Admission to the theater is otherwise $10). We hope to see you there!
