Brava with Calle 24 & Precita Eyes Muralists present the 7th Annual Baile en la Calle: The Mural Dances Sunday, May 5, 2019 with tours as the dances move along its route. Tours begin at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm in front Precita Eyes Muralists at 2981 24th Street at Harrison. This is a FREE community event for all to enjoy!
Brava! for Women in the Arts’ annual event takes over the streets and alleys of San Francisco’s Mission District to celebrate and preserve its living cultural heritage! Now in its seventh year, Baile en la Calle: The Mural Dances draws the Bay Area’s most dynamic dance companies and performing artists to interpret the murals through music and dance, alongside detailed narration by Precita Eyes Muralists docents. Baile en la Calle: The Mural Dances provides audiences an intricate look at each mural and its relationship to the culture and the life of the Mission. This year’s tour includes “The Gift of Xochiquetzal,” a just revealed sidewalk mosaic designed by Susan Cervantes, along with several murals located along famed Balmy Alley.
Performances by Calina Lawrence, Cuicacalli Dance Company, Dazaun Soleyn, Dia Pa’Son with Maestro Liche Oseguera, Loco Bloco. Docents provided by Precita Eyes Muralists. This is a unique event that combines music, dance, art and a walking tour of the lower 24 th Street Mission District.
