This year, District 7 Supervisor Norman Yee set aside $300,000 to be used for the Participatory Budget General Projects, $250,000 for Pedestrian Safety Vision Zero Projects, and $100,000 for Disaster Preparedness.
“The District 7 Participatory Budgeting Project aims to establish an inclusive way to identify projects within the district to improve the quality of our neighborhoods. These projects may range from bold, new and lasting, to simple, useful and thoughtful. The essence of the Participatory Budget is to involve as many community members as possible, regardless of age, race, and socio-economic background.”
The deadline is January 5th and all residents of District 7 (in which district Lick-Wilmerding is located) who are 16 years old and up can apply. Past projects include: flashing pedestrian crossing paths at high injury corridors, Unity Plaza (near the Philz coffee on Ocean) community litter pick up and beautification, Ingleside community mural design and implementation.
