Ritmolandia is a series of percussion and dance classes dedicated to empowering community through learning the historic, cultural arts of the San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood. On May 5, learn Brazilian Samba with our guest artist, renowned percussionist Jorge Alabê! For the series finale on May 19, YAX’s own Alfia Macias will lead the class in the rhythms of Carnival, followed by a community performance and celebration. All ages and experience levels welcome! Youth Art Exchange and Root Division present New Growth, a showcase of youth artwork. This is the final celebration and gallery show for YAX’s spring students! YAX youth will present visual art, performances, a fashion show, film screenings, and interactive exhibits alongside work from youth across San Francisco.

OceanBloom Artist’s Reception • May 14: 5–6:30PM
This summer, Youth Art Exchange will unveil OceanBloom: an interdisciplinary, collaborative mural project, with work installed on a series of 10 utility boxes along Ocean Avenue. Join Youth Art Exchange’s team of artists and printmakers for a sneak preview of the work and artist’s reception at Supervisor Yee’s office in San Francisco City Hall.
