We in The Center wanted to highlight a few upcoming opportunities to volunteer during the Holiday season! VolunteerMatch.org is a fantastic resource to find volunteer positions for both long and short term projects.

Contemporary Jewish Museum

If you are looking to give something back to the community on Christmas Day, the Contemporary Jewish Museum is looking for volunteers to join the excitement on our Community Day. The CJM’s Community Day is an admission-free fun-for-all extravaganza. It’s our busiest day of the year, and volunteers are vital to the success of the day.

Community Living Campaign

The Bayview Hunter’s Point Home Delivered Groceries Program is a collaborative effort between Community Living Campaign, Having Pride UNITI, and San Francisco Food Bank. Our collaboration provides home delivered groceries to seniors (60 and older) and adults with disabilities in the 94124 who because of physical or mental disabilities cannot access the community food pantries that are currently available to individuals and families that qualify.

Currently, we are in immediate need of volunteer to help us bag the grocery items that are delivered in bulk from the San Francisco Food Bank. Volunteers are needed every Monday morning from 8 AM to 9:30 AM(excluding certain holidays).

Curry Senior Center

Please join some of our Curry seniors for a few hours (or more!) as we label paper ornaments for a holiday gift drive! We’re looking for 5-10 volunteers on the following dates and times:

Wednesday, 11/29 – 12:00-4:30

Thursday 11/30 – 10:00-4:30

Friday 12/1 – 9:00-4:30

Doris Krauss Senior Center

We are having fun every Monday at the Doris Krauss Senior Center. We are open from 10am to 1:30 pm you can do a whole shift from 9am to 2pm. There are only Two requirements for our volunteers and those are a smile and a desire to have fun. Y

Family Support Services

This is one of those really FUN volunteer projects that makes everyone’s Holiday Season brighter!

At Family Support Services we do everything we can to help our clients create a healthy, secure environment for their entire family–children and parents alike. Our Sponsor-A-Family program gives donors the opportunity to provide for the specific needs of one or more families.

During the holidays we invite members of the community to show their support of families by donating gifts or making a monetary contribution to help make a family’s holiday more joyous.

Institute on Aging Cable Car Caroling

Cable Car Caroling has been part of the fabric of San Francisco for over 30 years. Each year, roughly 500 carolers ride the cable cars to carol at 60+ senior homes and assisted living facilities. Seniors benefit from the joy and holiday cheer brought by the carolers, and participants benefit from the connection they create with our community’s most vulnerable populatio

Instituto Familiar de la Raza’s Las Posadas

Instituto Familiar de la Raza is in the process of planning their grand event Las Posadas, which will be held Friday December 15th from 4pm-7:30pm and they are in need of a lot of help. If you are interested in helping, please contact The Center!

Las Posadas are Christmas celebrations in which the route taken by Mary and Joseph in their search for a place to stay for the birth of Jesus is recreated. Originally, Las Posadas were used by Spaniards as a tool to Christianize the conquered pueblos. Throughout the centuries, elements of the new Latin American realities from the region, the mestizos, and the indigenous were fused little by little in this colorful celebration.

Rebuilding Alliance KPFA Arts Fair

ave fun with your community service group or as an individual at the KPFA ARTS FAIR on December 16 and 17! This is the annual KPFA Holiday Arts Fair and supposed to be the biggest arts fair in Northern California!

We are looking for volunteers to help us at our booth on Saturday, Dec16th and Sunday Dec 17th, You can volunteer in 2 to 4 hour shifts depending on your availability.

St. Anthony Foundation

St. Anthony’s Free Clothing Program (FCP) is San Francisco’s largest free clothing program serving both individuals and families. FCP provides warm clothes, interview and employment apparel, and children’s clothing to low-income families and individuals, including those who are homeless. The Free Clothing Program serves approximately 125 guests a day in three services: Men’s Service, Women’s Service, and Family Service. The Personal Shopper volunteers directly with guests, helping men, women, children, and families find the clothing they need.

St. Francis Living Room

Come volunteer for the St. Francis Living Room and give seniors a healthy breakfast! At St. Francis Living Room, we serve 15,000 nutritious breakfasts annually to low income and homeless seniors annually as well as provide them social, educational and recreational activities for them. Volunteers will help serve breakfast and assist those seniors unable to get through the buffet line.While ongoing volunteers are preferable, one time volunteers are certainly welcome.
