This past year, Guria rescued 267 people, including 167 children, from slavery, while others raised awareness in their communities by educating, talking, and creating art about human trafficking. Both their direct action and others’ facilitation of community dialogue are vital components of the complex battle against this great injustice.
FREEDOM NOW Global Art Exchange & Exhibit is a part of Guria’s ongoing awareness campaign that aims to shed light on worldwide human trafficking. Guria has put out a call looking for organizations to participate in 2018’s Exhibit. Participation involves four simple steps:
- Education – Educate students and peers about modern human trafficking. We have created a curriculum which you are free to use, and you are welcome to take aspects of this curriculum to create your own. If you choose to participate, a link to the curriculum will be sent in a later email.
- Art Creation – Facilitate student art production. Direction and guidelines will be found in the curriculum.
- Art Exchange – Exchange art with students around the globe at freedomnowcampaign.org. All art must be uploaded by Tuesday, February
6, 2018.
- Global Exhibit – Put on an exhibit in your community! With art produced at your school and printed art from around the world, build a display or organize a gathering to share and discuss what’s been created. The date of the Worldwide Exhibit will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018
