You might be the next Hometown Hero! The Oakland Youth Poet Laureate program wants you to apply to become the 2017 Oakland Youth Poet Laureate. Each year we accept submissions from talented young writers to be considered for the city’s top literary honor.

If selected, you will represent your city, receive a $5,000 educational scholarship and improve your skills through a year of opportunities including year-round workshops, public performances, publishing and mentoring. Apply today
