Fellowship admission requirements:
- Excellent communications skills as demonstrated in an email asking to join the program and a followup phone interview or resume submission
- A basic knowledge of electoral politics and government roles/public policy
Signed permission form - Patience and dedication for progressive or liberal cause
Fellowship Expectations:
- Volunteer for a 36 hour shift at least 10 times over the course of summer. This will come out to
about once a week, with some flexibility for vacation time. Students can volunteer multiple times in one week and are always welcome to go above and beyond the requirement. Shifts may be for voter registration, phone banking, tabling, or office work. Most shifts will involve some type of voter outreach. Shift length will vary based on activity. - Follow instructions closely, show up on time, and take initiative.
- Interns will be responsible for registering people to vote, doing administrative work, and event planning.
- Hitting the streets and talking to strangers a must!
They will provide:
- Documentation and signatures etc. necessary communityservice or other credit
- Training in basic campaign outreach and communication.
- Appropriate supervision – minors ‘out in the field’ will always have an experienced campaign volunteer
with them, or a collegeaged intern. - Access to fundraisers, political events, and any local matters that may interest/educate the fellows.
- Upon successful completion of the program interns will receive a diploma, a letter of recommendation
on Party letterhead (should they ask for one).
