Tutor With Jamestown Community Center, Deadline May 8

The Jamestown Community Center is a 40 year old youth development organization in the Mission District providing high quality educational opportunities to low income youth.  During the summer, they provide summer programming at Cesar Chavez Elementary School and Buena Vista Horace Mann School for children k-8.

They are looking for volunteer interns and tutors. Jamestown will provide students with a week long training on youth development theory, lesson planning, classroom behavior management, and an opportunity to make lifelong friends in a loving, supportive and fun environment.  Students who complete the internship will receive a formal acknowledgement that includes the specifics components of their internship.

They ask for a minimum commitment of 3 weeks during the summer – one week for training, and the work with students.   Training will be between June 1-5 and the program runs between June 8th and July 17th.  Interested students can email Nadia Conrad, the teen programs coordinator, at nadia@jamestownsf.org.
