Bay Area High School students are invited to apply for a Climate One scholarship to travel to the Arctic July 27 to August 10, 2015 with Students on Ice, a Canadian educational organization.
In recent years, winning students from Berkeley High, Lincoln High and Lick Wilmerding have won the $10,000 scholarship. Past winners say the trip has been a life-changing experience to visit native communities, learn about science at the top of the world, and bond with students from around the world.
A video from last year’s trip is here.
The Students on Ice page is here.
To be eligible students must attend the Climate One event at The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco the evening of March 24th. The event features an interview with billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens. Only students who attend the event and register with us there can apply online for the scholarship.
Students can register for the Pickens event here and get in free by entering the promo code “Arctic.” Parents are welcome to purchase tickets to the event.
