The College of Engineering at the University of Illinois wants to invite girls in your school who have an interest in STEM fields to apply to GAMES Camp next year from July 13-19th, 2014. Girls’ Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science is an annual week long camp, designed for academically talented high school girls (rising 9th-12th graders). The camp gives these young ladies an opportunity to explore engineering through demonstrations, classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and contacts with women in engineering. Engineering tracks for camp this year include: aerospace, bioengineering, chemical, materials, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and app development. While at camp, the girls will spend many quality hours learning in world-class instructional facilities at one of the best engineering schools in the world.
We also provide social evening activities for the campers to meet other girls who have the same love of engineering, to help prepare them for college, and to just have fun, allowing them to form friendships with other STEM lovers across the country.
Enrollment in the program is limited to ensure the quality of the academic experience. GAMES has a selective admissions process based on academic performance, a written essay and a teacher recommendation. Placement in a camp is contingent on when the application is completed, so please encourage the girls to apply soon to ensure they can attend the track they desire. The application deadline is April 15, 2014.
